I would feel helpless too if I had to take that many meds.

Say - I read that constipation is a side effect of Depakote and Luvox. Could they be part of the increase C you are experiencing?

My constipation is no worse than prior to going on those meds.

Syl...I wanted your opinion.
My doctor has recommend that for sleep, once again, I do between 6-9 mg of melotonin per night.
She feels this is the best way to get my sleep right again.

I wanted to know
1) Do you think that melotonin and in this dosage is safe for IBS?
-Will it be likely to be irritating or not?

2) Which brand do you recommend? I recall you saying NOW is good, but they sell only online. I never see it at VitaminShoppe or Whole Foods/Wal Mart/CVS/Wal Greens.

I have seen sourcenaturals and spring valley.
I wanted to know, are these brands melotonin, posted below, safe or do they contain bad ingredients?

sourenaturals ingredients:
Quote:

dibasic calcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose acetate, stearic acid, colloidal silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate.

spring valley ingredients
Quote:

Melatonin. Other: Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Sodium Starch Glycolate, Magnesium Stearate.

Basically, before I go out and buy, try melotonin I wanted to make sure you feel this is not going to irritate IBS in this dosage nor for any of these particular brands.

Melatonin may or may not increase C. Studies of melatonin on IBS suffers show that it affects GI motility and it is not effective for managing sleep distrubances.

I would try the Spring Valley version.

Thanks again Syl.
I went to the store and could not find spring valley.
I did find Nature's Bounty.

Nature's Bounty
Triple Strength Melatonin 3 MG

Melatonin (as n-Acetyl-5-Methoxytryptamine)
Other Ingredients: Dicalcium Phosphate, Vegetable Cullulose, Vegetbale Magnesium Sterate, Silica.

Does this sound ingredient wise ok to you?
Thanks!
