Is it common for IBS to occur at the end of the day and in the morning? I've been having attacks of urgency and massive belching in the evening and gas cramping in the morning. What is going on?

Yes, I found this quite common personally until I started taking Heather's peppermint capsules morning and evening. You might want to give those a try and see how you do.

It can be any time of day. Some people are morning IBSers. I find more guys are that way. Others are afternoon and evening bloaters/gassers. I go through streaks of one then another way.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

In the morning a lot of ibsers caqn have trouble, because at night when your asleep the gi tract slows way down and in the morning a chemical called cortisol, which is a stress hormone "wakes" the gut up.

IBS can effect certain people at particular times of the day.
