help describing the worst of the bloat..

I am sure we have all experienced the frustration of trying to explain to friends/family just how excruciating the bloat of IBS is- I don't think it is anything like the bloat normal people feel. How do you describe it so they understand? I want to hear what other people say so I can show my family & help them better understand that it isn't just me.

It is hard to describe. Sometimes I feel like my skin is stretching and pulling and that it might stretch to the point that it tears. I find that IBS symptoms are very hard for people who do not suffer from IBS to understand.
For me IBS runs in my family so no need to explain anything to them. Lucky, I guess,  At least they don't question when I choose not to eat something or when I spend extra time in the bathroom.

You are definitely not alone and that is what makes the boards here special. It is nice to be able to come to a place where other people understand what you are going through.
