I am just curious if anyone else experiences this- when you can feel that your colon is totally stuck or that you are so bloated that you have to eat/shove a whole bunch of food in very quickly to jerk things into motion? It works, sadly, although not healthy. Does anyone else experience this? I'm sure it has to do with peristalsis

It is known as the gastrocolic reflex. The link is to Heather's description. You don't have to put food in your mouth quickly to invoke this response. You just have to eat

Well, the speed/quantity that you eat does affect the strength of the peristaltic motion. Take it from a former bulimic.

Thanks for the link and the info, but it actually only really kicks in for me if I eat a lot of food quickly when I need relief (or I should say the speed of the relief is directly related to how quickly I eat the food).
