I find it fascinating that different people have different experiences when they go on the IBS way of eating. Some lose weight, some gain. I wonder why this is?

I thought about it, and realized that maybe its what else we do in addition to changing how we eat. In my case I lost a lot of weight but I think it is not only because I cut way down on fat, but also because I began exercising daily (exercise regulates the bowels), and began eating 6 mini-meals instead of 3 bigger meals (smaller meals put less of a strain on the digestive tract). I also drink only spring water (LOTS of it!), and sometimes fruit juice and skim milk. Perhaps those who lose weight are doing all the other things too...then again some ppl are genetically meant to be larger and hence cannot lose weight easily.

I def. think that it's not JUST the "diet" per say...water, exercise, and low fat foods seem to be the "culprit" People that need to gain weight because they haven't been eating should be able to eat larger quantities and are therefore able to gain the weight they need to. People that need to lose probably lose because they are eating healthier--less fat, less calories, calories more spread out, exercise, water consumption, etc. Just a guess
