Is there anyone else out there who gets no relief from bloating when trying fennel tea? I went through an entire can of Heather's fennel tea (I am one of those weird ones, who loves the taste), but it did not help at all. I wonder why it doesn't seem to help me?

I have found many other ways to handle the bloat, but fennel is not one of them.

It doesn't work for me

It isn't rated particularly high as an IBS aid in the USCD complementary Medicine database. Caraway and peppermint oil are rated high for IBS. Fennel is rated as a herb or supplement with little scientific support and/or minimal health benefit.

I like the taste too but it seems to help me some. I have a problem with the peppermint even thought I love it, because it affects my acid reflux.

Thanks, Syl. I wonder why it is so overrated for helping with bloating?

I can't do peppermint, so maybe I will try a little Caraway.

Most of the time, fennel doesnt help me either but I think that fennel can be good for some kinds of stomach aches in some people though. Like my dad who doesnt have IBS had a stomach ache, took fennel and felt immediately better. IN my intro to herb class we learned about fennel mainly as being a lubricating herb, good for constipation that is due to being too dry. It helps to moisten and lubricate the intestines. If you havemucus/acid/too much food or whatever is causing the bloating you dont want any more lubrication. If the bloating is due to a lack of water/digestive acid or something, it may help. Thats my guess.

My mother (RIP) used to feed fennel tea to her infant grandchildren when they had the colic.

However, it does not help me.

Cheers.
