brummel and brown spread: liquid soybean oil, water, nonfat yogurt, salt, gelatin.... or B&B creamy spread: soybean oil, corn syrup, apples, water, sugar, salt, yogurt.... They have way less fat than butter or margarine...I thought maybe a little on bread or bagels would be okay???????

The main problem with these is that they contain dairy, which is usually a trigger in IBS individuals... but if you can tolerate a little, then more power to you I can usually tolerate small amounts of Brummel & Brown spread (it's my fave), but many individuals can't. But, I'm also new to this whole thing, so my advice might be worthless, *lol* Anyways, hope this helps your decision. Heather will be able to give you better advice

They contain dairy which contains casein, lactose, and whey - all triggers for IBS.

Try using a non-hydrogenated soy shortening. I use Soy Garden. It's usually found in the produce section with the fruits & veggies in the regular grocery store.

This stuff is incredible. It tastes more like butter than anything I've ever had. I just went down to the health food store and bought two more containers of the stuff. I cook with it, spread it on my French bread -- oooh BABY! -- but I buy the old yucky stuff for my hubby. He CLAIMS he prefers it. Yeah right.

GOFERIT!
