I'm in my 11th week. Needless to say, this has not been as "fun" as I thought it would be. My main problems are nausea/vomiting/constipation. Although I can say it is getting better compared to what it's been. But, these are my questions for you all:

1) How has your diet been? Mine, not so good. I've definitely fallen off the IBS bandwagon. I eat what I want, when I want. I feel like no matter what I eat, I'll be sick anyway.

2) At what point were you able to get back on the IBS diet? Salads, fruit, veggies make me vomit. I'm hoping I can get back to them soon.

3) How are you dealing with constipation? I have not been good about my fiber. I did buy some "approved" fiber tablets, but I want to go back to the Acacia. I'm tired of taking pills of anything.

4) Are you having to take a lot of medications? I have to take thyroid pills daily, then throw in 2 nausea meds, the prenatal vitamin - this has spelled IBS disaster.

5) How much weight have you gained? So far, I have gained none. I am concerned about that. I think it's due to all the vomiting. Hopefully, I can start gaining soon.

Hi Wendy,
I am 17 weeks along and I remember feeling like that early on. Fortunetly I only puked once. I was nauseous all the time!
In my first trimester I lost 5 pounds but now I have gained a total of 9. I am not taking any medicine besides the prenatal which I know can spell disaster for IBS. I typically dont deal with constipation, I deal with "d" so thats why I lost the weight in the beginning...it didnt matter what I ate, it went right through me.

I think when you get through this morning sickness (or all day sickness) stuff that you have in your first trimester you will feel better. I too have not been a great follower of the EFI diet in my second trimester. I have been craving food and its hard to say no to those cravings! I have tried some stuff and it has backfired on me like red meat for example- still makes me really sick and I havent tried dairy- still eat a lot of soy.
But I do enjoy fruit now so I eat quite a lot of it which I never did before I was pregnant. I also eat a bit of salad now, not a full meal salad but I havent had lettuce in over two years.
Its hard to follow the EFI diet being pregnant, I never used to crave this stuff because I knew how it made me feel but being pregnant is totally different. For the most part I still follow the diet, I just stray a little (breaded chicken, tator tots and larger portions of food than I normally would do).

Its hard for you right now being 11 weeks, I remember it well, but just hang in there and know that for most it gets better. Congrats!! We find out what I'm having on Oct. 7th!! I cant't wait!

Stefanie
