I would like to try Heather's Tummy Fiber Acacia again, but hesitate because the two times I tried it resulted in diarrhea, even though I took LESS than the minimum dose she suggests. (I have diarrhea IBS, but it is mild diarrhea, more soft stools. My main symptom is pain.)

I remember maybe two years ago, seeing some discussion on the board about this . . . a couple of people who had the same, unaccountable, response. I say unaccountable because why should this particular soluble fiber cause me problems when the basis of my diet IS soluble fiber? I have followed Heather's diet religiously for some 5 years, with very good results.

I am wondering if the discussion two or so years ago led to any conclusions, such as, the reason why some people may not tolerate fiber supplements? Or if there is anyone else currently who has had the same response?

Thanks

My feeling is the body takes an opportunity to overreact to something new. It must be the change that does it.

--------------------
IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
