Iced Tea a Trigger??

I had been doing good with my diarrheal issues lately but had a flare-up in the last two days.
While speaking with a friend I realized that it MAY be due to my drinking iced tea. I make my own, using de-caf tea bags and no sugar.
I'll usually drink lots of Gatorade, but I ran out of it and made the iced tea. A few hours later I started with the runs again.
I think it's not just coincidental. Anyone else have a similar problem with iced tea (even de-caf)?

Tea has never bothered me. I also drink de-caf and sometimes blend that with herbal.

Yup, tea contains tannin and getting out the caffeine doesn't remove the tannin. I do okay with decaf tea as long as I don't brew it for too long. For hot tea, I brew for about a minute; for iced tea I brew for no more than 5 minutes before removing the tea bag from the pot. It may be all in my head but that seems to keep the tannin level bearable for me. If I make iced tea and leave the tea in the water until it cools, it just kills my tummy.
If you want to make iced tea from herbal teas, Culinary Teas makes a couple of roobios blends that are good cold: Florida Orange and Rainbow.

That's how I do it... I just throw some tea bags in warm water, and leave the whole container in the fridge for a day. Maybe I should try taking the bags out after an hour.

Try this...boil you water and then turn off and drop in your teabags and leave as long as you feel is right for you. I then strain and pour over ice. Sometimes I add a small amount of sugar and lemon. You don't have to leave the teabags in for long.

Heather reminds us that "ice-cold beverages on an empty stomach can trigger GI spasms, whereas the heat in hot teas is in and of itself a muscle relaxant." If you want a cold beverage, I would make sure it's not too cold (over ice). You can try to do the iced tea with peppermint or fennel which will also help your symptoms.
