I was reading "Eat This Not That, Supermarket Survival Guide" by David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding, 2009 and came across two things. One is that there is a new artifical sweetner called Neotame, which the FDA approved in 2002 and is just starting to hit the market (pg. 313), have you heard of it?
My other question is about carrageenan. In this book on page 308 they have this information. "In animal studies, carrageenan has been shown to cause ulcers, colon inflammation, and digestive cancers. While these results seem limited to degraded carrageenan - a class that has been treated with heat and chemicals - a University of Iowa study concluded that even undegraded carrageeneen could become degraded in the human digestive system." Also on Dr. Weil website he also recommends avoiding it. http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA44833. What is your opinion?
