When I strictly follow Heather's diet all is well EXCEPT it seems that within a few hours of eating garlic all hell breaks loose. Is it just me or is this a problem shared by others?

Garlic is a problem for many IBSers. See Heather's comments "Sulfur-containing foods (garlic, onions, leeks, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, asparagus, and Brussels sprouts), in addition to their high amounts of insoluble fiber, also produce significant gas in the GI tract and this can trigger attacks."

You may have to restrict or remove some of these foods from your diet. When I cook I use large pieces of garlic and onion that I remove before eating.

I too have that problem with garlic and onions and I do what Syl does, add large hunks of it and then remove them before eating or I use onion and garlic powder sparingly.
