I eat them frequently, and they do help my C. If you're not used to them I would start with a small serving and you may want to buffer with some SF - rice, pasta, bread, etc.

Julie, from your posts you don't seem that stable. I find chick peas a little tough in that they cause gas. Maybe try a small portion and chew very thoroughly.

Try chickpeas in hummus form. I find them safe if you are stable--note they are in the bean family of foods, so treat them carefully.
Hummus is a chickpea puree and thus might be a tad safer if you haven't had chickpeas in awhile. Dip away or spread with breads, crackers and safe raw veggies (I like carrots and raw mushrooms and cucumber--peeled/seeded), best). It's available in most supermarkets. Read labels carefully to make sure ingredients are safe.
