Hello! I have had IBS for YEARS and it has been under control til lately. It has gotten SO BAD! I am going to the DR and he is just putzing around about getting me to a GI Dr. People at work think I'm crazy. I had one co-worker tell me that I needed to use "mind over matter and not agonize so much". I had to call in sick and was very dehydrated not to mention a few more things. How can you work when you haven't eaten in DAYS! This is the worse that it's ever been. I'm so glad that I found this site. Starz

Hi Starz and welcome to the boards!
If you current doc is not taking your concerns seriously, move on to a new doc who will. Unfortunately, finding a decent doctor seems to be half the battle of IBS.
You have been properly diagnosed with IBS? Just checking.
In the meantime, try Breaking the Cycle . Do this for a few days, and once you get stablalized, you can start slowly adding some stuff back in. If you haven't already, read here to find out all about Eating for IBS (EFI).
Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Hi Starz! Mags advice is good. You need a proper diagnosis -- and a good GI specialist. If, after his diagnosis and a colonoscopy, he doesn't offer you any advice or help, find another. Meanwhile, Heather and this website WILL.
And don't listen to co-workers. Why do people say such stupid things about things they know nothing at all!? How helpful do they think it is to say to someone who is ailing, "don't agonize so much"???
