Sorry if I double-post this...I don't see my original posting. I was wondering if anyone else can relate to my non-text book IBS symptoms: when I get an attack, I start to feel hot and sickly in my abdomen (but in a generalized way), then my heart rate goes up quickly and stays high for a while, or until I get some peppermint tea inside me. I may or may not have a BM afterwards. There's absolutely no pain, but more of a silent internal charliehorse. I can have this happen if I drink decaf tea, almost immediately. Can anyone relate? I'm also thinking of having children soon. Will this hurt my baby? Will pregnancy make it worse? It's very scary when it happens. Thanks for listening!

You should definatly talk to your dr. about your symptoms but I can tell you that that heart racing, queezy dizzy feeling is something I experiece too occasionaly. Try drinkig water (and - if you can) sit and relax for a few minutes. Talk to your Dr. when you get a chance especially if you want to get pregnant. It's important to get your body as healthy as possible before you try to share it. (I have three healthy children thank g-d - but I didn't experience symptoms untill just before my last pregancy - and ironicly that was my easiest pregnancy - but I didn't have a MAJOR symptoms until she was a year old). Just curious Are you C or D? I'm C. Good luck.

Thanks for responding Casper. It's just good to know that I'm not alone in having these symptoms. You asked if I'm C or D, and for the most part I'm a D. But I think my whoozy/heart rate stuff happens because I'm having C, so then my body spasms in reaction to it. You make a good point about finding a doctor who will help, but that's been my challenge for many years. Let's hope I find somebody who gets it.
