Hang in there! Unfortunately, most viruses are passed on when the infected person isn't showing symptoms yet (a day before they get sick) But, the best thing you can do is wash your hands anytime you touch him or anything he uses. Advice from your friendly neighborhood nurse and fellow IBS person!! maryh

I KNEW IT! I'm always on my hubby's case about that: "Did you wash your hands?" He used to drive a school bus, and I wouldn't let him in the house after his route until he washed his hands.

Howard Hughes was right! Say what you will about his fanatacism, but that tissue thing was right on! Whenever I go out in public, if I don't have my gloves on, I open all doors with my shirt sleeves. Because I have "D" I'm always using public toilets (EW), and you should see how fanatic I am in there! (Well, maybe not. )

Anyway, I hope your hubby gets better REAL soon and I hope you stay germ-free. Keep us posted!

Bev.

Lysol will help the air and vent a window to breath fresh air, but not in the room where he is sleeping. Also get some disinfect wipes to wipe down door handles and the phone. For yourself eat foods for the flu even if you don't have it until the virus is under control, these foods are rich in vitamins that combat the flu. Wash blankets and pilllow cases every three days, use hot or warm water.
If your drinking herbal teas that is great, give some to him too, make a blend of Peppermint and chamomile. Hope you stay well and hubby gets better soon.

My daughter has been fighting the flu since Dec. 15. She is fine one day and sick the next. She missed a few days of school with going in the am but coming home in the afternoons. Last week she was sick for 2 days felt better and now today back to square one. The funny thing is (not really funny)she had the flu shot 2 weeks before she got the flu.She had to have the flu shot as she is going to work at the hospital (co-op for school) starting Feb. She is not impressed with the shot, as she puts it "It is supposed to keep the flu away" As I told her ther are many flu virus' around. I just pray I don't get it either. I too wash my hands a million times a day and use Purell. As for breathing the same air. I get outside as much as possible. Take care of yourself and of course your hubby!! Sue

Hi again Bevrs! I know we have discussed this before, but do you also use hand sanitizer? Do you think it works as well as regular 'ol hand washing?

Actually, I do -- quite a lot in fact. If I am going anywhere, say out to a restaurant, for example, and have to open a door with my bare hands, when I get to the table I pull out of my purse my little medicine cabinet. (I've mentioned this elsewhere in these boards.) Out of my little medicine cabinet I pull a little tiny bottle of sanitizer and I take some and give some to my hubby -- before we touch ANYTHING.

Actually, my hubby works part-time for a local convalescent center, and in his orientation they told him that the sanitizer was a requirement for all workers, that in fact it cleans the hands more thoroughly than soap and water. He too keeps a little portable supply of it in his back pack that he carries with him on the van, and he uses it after he finishes his route. He loads and unloads passengers in their wheelchairs onto the van and drives them around. They love him!

Oh, and he hasn't caught the flu, even after handling all those wheelchairs and old folks!
