You may find these three references on IBS and the role fructose/lactose and other short chained carbohydrate malabsorption play in the disorder. While the articles are quite technical some of the tables give excellent dietary management information for IBSers (e.g. Figure 2 in the second reference).

Something else you may find interesting is the description in the first reference of the relationship between short chained carbohydrate malabsorption such as fructose/lactose and SIBO (also known as SBBO).

Good luck with you new approach. Sounds like you might be on to something good

Thanks Syl,

I'll definitely give them a read and will also keep you posted if i learn anything new about the fructose/lactose intolerance, SIBO or histamine intolerance in my next consultation.

Hiya

No they all say, including GI doc not required. So have to go by their judgement that is not always easy to do, and without changing docs again which is impossible im pretty much stuck with their diagnosis
