Sorry Ruchie, but ulcers are unfamiliar territory for me. You are always so helpful to all of us, I wish I could help somehow. I will keep healthy healing thoughts for your physical and emotional body for you.

Try your best to keep your chin up through this difficult time, and know that you WILL feel good again. Magically, the day will come when you will open your eyes and feel great again. We each have an amazing will to see through tough times. Our human spirit isn't a quitter! Don't give up and remember to smile. We all care about you. Let us know how things are going okay?

Wow, thank you for that confidence boost! That means a lot to me...

All of you inspire me...we're all having a rough go of it in our lives...and every day you all get up in the morning and live your lives despite the stumbling blocks IBS and our hectic lives place before us. You're all amazing, wonderful people...and I'm lucky to know each and every one of you!

You take care of yourself....and feel good!

Love,
Ruchie

Hang in there girl.. ya know I feel the same way just when things are going real good, something takes me down, but I alwasy come out of it fighting and it's weird it so traumatic and then it never comes back or happens again. Ulcers are no fun, never had one but do get reflux..Yuck..
This will heal and with IBS diet you'll get some relief, meds I don't take them..Hows the probiotics working? Your so strong stay that way and you'll conquer this ailment. Take care and speedy recovery..God bless..

I have been having more trouble with reflux lately which I attrubute to my hiatal hernia. Are there any foods you find particularly annoying to your reflux? Do you ever have trouble with swallowing? Are you O. K eating cocoa? What a complicated system the GI tract is.

Hi! Thanks for the encouragement! I feel that Heather's book has completely changed my life. Before
I started her diet, I was having weekly attacks, which seems to be connected to going into menopause
because before that I was getting one maybe once every 3 months or so. Don't really understand
the connection, but it was making it hard to work and definitely putting a cramp in my social life. Now, I've had 2 or 3 mornings where I had to take immodium to 'ward off' any problems and that was the end
of it!
I'm so grateful I stumbled upon this site-my freezer is always stockpiled with Heather's yummy
breads! I especially love the chocolate applesauce and the pumpkin apple spice breads. Happy
New Year to you and may you enjoy good health throughout 2004! Linda

Chocolate a no-no most of the time and yes I sometimes have trouble swallowing. Some foods bother me if they are to dry like chicken breast and some breads. If I eat them in small bite qty, it's quite tolerable. Reflux I use no meds but drink lots of chamomile before and after a meal, it's great and I don't get the reflux as often anymore. Don't overeat to, it can not only tigger the IBS, but reflux also. Eat small meals every 3-4hrs.

What a nice post, Linda! Your IBS started with menopause? Coincidentally? Interesting -- because it seemed mine began about the same time! (Although I had an operation.)

Chocolate applesauce? Sounds great! I made the Pumpkin Apple Spice Bread, and you're right -- it's excellent! I just made her Sticky Lemon Bread --- ooooh, baby!

Yes, here's to a good 2004 and a HEALTHY one -- for all of us!

Thanks, Linda,
Bev.

I can't do chamomile because of my ragweed allergies. So you can't have brownies or chocolate cake or anything with unsweetened chocolate?

Ruchie, THANK YOU!!! I don't feel my age -- I look in the mirror and can't believe it myself -- but I'm 59. I was born in 1944 on Guy Fawkes Day. I still ain't sure what that is -- but a Brit will know!

Yes, I started menopause 22 years ago when I had my operation. Thankfully that's all behind me now. If I could, I'd never go back -- I'm looking AHEAD!

Happy New Year!

Bev
