Good Morning, I have been using the (quick cook in 1 minute) oatmeal for several years now. I was looking in Heather's IBS recipe book and it said to use Regular oatmeal instead of Quick. Should I switch to the regular blend and if so, what are the benefits of doing so!!

Quick oatmeal is the same as regular oatmeal except the oats are cut thinner so they will cook faster. Both have the same amount of IF and SF per serving. On the other hand instant oatmeal tends to contain more IF than SF as well as sugar and other ingredients. I use regular oatmeal.

I use Quakers instant regular oats since I don't have room for a microwave and it's never given me a problem. I checked the label on the box and it has 2g of SF vs 1g of IF. However if you want to use the recipes for adding berries to your oatmeal you shouldn't use the instant as it cooks to quickly.

I use regular oatmeal, but only because I prefer the texture of it over quick oats.

I just bought an extremely large can of Quaker 1-minute oatmeal. I guess I'll have to switch back next time! Ugh! Is anything simple anymore?
