Hi
I have given up garlic, onions, dairy, wheat, - so many things- I keep losing weight-cause I am so restricted in what I eat. I follow the guidelines of this diet- sometimes I wonder if so much carbs is working against me/?? Also
if you have gassiness - do you eat salads? I only have been eating cooked v?gies- and of course brocollai is a killer- but healthy. Any help

Gas was one of my major problems. It only abated after I started avoiding fructose in all forms. I never eat vegetables raw so salads are out. Everything you have given up is a "killer" as you say. Also for me bananas don't work - give me big time gas. My diet isn't too interesting but at least I am stable and the gas is manageable.

Hey PITA -
Have you tried taking an antacid, like Zantac or Prilosec? They are both OTC, and can be a BIG help!

That will DEFINITELY help your gas. Sounds like stomach acid to me. Sometimes dietary changes can help a little, but you may need more help. Start off by taking 150mg of Zantac on an EMPTY stomach 30min before dinner(since stomach acid peaks at 2am). If that doesn't help, then increase it to 300mg. That should REALLY help!! ...and it's totally safe!! My Doctor told me to take 300mg of Zantac a day through both my pregnancies and I had perfectly healthy kids.

Good Luck!

I have had gas problems forever and have not heard of this before. Why/how does this work?

An acid stomach/digestive system can DEFINITELY cause a lot of gas!! Not sure "exactly" why, BUT I do know that whenever I have a lot of gas, if I take a prolisec, or zantac or something I always get relief. Try it, it works like a charm!

Does an acid stomach impair digestion and therefore create more gas? I thought I knew all about gas so I'm a bit confused by this antacid suggestion.
