I really don't know what to do anymore!!!! I am so sick of seeing doctors that really don't seem like they want to help me at all! I am having a hard time accepting that my problems are IBS. Is it crazy for me to request testing just to make sure its not anything else, possibly more serious?! I have requested a colonoscopy on SEVERAL occasions. They all say the same thing, "I don't think that is necessary!" I mean who cares if they think its "necessary", I am the one in pain just about everyday, and I need this for my own peace of mine. I have had laproscopy, and it came back fine, now my GI doctor is wanting to do another procedure, something to do with putting a tube down my throat??? How is this going to detect any problems with my colon?? I just don't understand, all he told me to do is exercise, drink lots of water, and increase my fiber. Then he gave me prilosec.
I went to my general doctor today and let her know how I was feeling, I have lost weight, (which is not good for me, weighing in at about 93lbs!) and I am terrified of eating anything, because if the pain!!!! So she gave me remeron an antidepressant, she said it would increase my appetite. Has anyone ever heard of this? Will it be ok to take? My doctor even admitted that she didn't know alot about this medication and how it would affect my IBS. Sorry this is so long, I am just desperate, I am young and a newlywed and just want to enjoy my life!! Any similiar experiences or advice would be very helpful!!

I would suggest working on the guidelines of this diet first. If you see a change in a week or two then you're looking at IBS. Sorry but it's better than something really serious. If you stick to the guide lines for a bit and your symptoms don't change, then either insist on more tests or find a new doc who will take you seriously.

My doc did lots of testing and found nothing wrong she was going to do more but I found this site first and voila!!no more doc. (for now)
I noticed a HUGE difference right away. I know it's so much easier to think you have some dire disease but....IBS is managble and livable.

Good luck to you and I hope you start feeling better soon.
