Hi All,
Thought I had what would be a "safe" dinner for me last night, w/ one serving of steamed okra w/ the rice and chicken I had. Really bad morning of D and nausea (my symptoms) and super tired.
Thanks Maggie

Okra may be one of those veggies that just doesn't agree with you I don't care for it unless it's deep fried with cornmeal and we know that's not gonna happen so I haven't touched it.....you may want to try it again in a couple weeks and see what happens; if you get another attack then you know it was probably the okra! Good luck.

I love okra but oh boy is it ever a bad idea for me. I get the same reaction you did. Bummer.

Thanks a lot, you two! I think it "hit me blind" because I eat okra MAYBE 1-2x/year, and so I had not identified it as "safe" or not. (i had made myself a plate at Whole Foods for dinner and it was the one mushy/tomatoey good looking veg there last night). The other confounding part for me is that I can eat very "unsafe" foods sometimes for weeks at a time with little or NO symptoms (I mean consume lightly, or in moderation)...but then when I'm "unstable" almost EVERYTHING causes some discomfort- even rice! This real instability now seems be a PMS event, though it varies in severity each cycle. I'm really not liking it this week, I can tell you that. Just when the PMS blues/fatigue hits I've also got a crazy gut, which does not help matters!I know i'm not alone in this. Glad for the site. Thank you all.
Maggie
