Hi,
I am going to a tea on Saturday, May 17th and one of the items on the menu is a turkey sandwich with chutney. I have already contacted the restaurant by e-mail to aks what this would contain.
Any comments?

Chutney is probably safe although it may contain HFCS which is iffy but not usually a problem in small amounts. See if you can get it served on the side and use just a little. Also ask what kind of bread it's served on. Everybody's into whole grain these days. Sigh.
Good for you for asking what's in the food. Maybe if more people did that restaurants would break down and actually tell us what we're eating.

Basically it is mango and spices. If you are touchy to acid there is vinegar in it, or if garlic and onion is a problem you might want to avoid it. The spices aren't really hot though and the ginger is good for you. I make my own mango chutney and sometimes apple or pear or cranberry chutney but we never eat them up.
