My wedding is in 29 days! Yeah! But is there anything I can do now or on the day to prevent a stomach attack? Anyone who got married while having IBS? Suggestions? Advice? Thoughts? thanks in advance!

HI! I was married in September of last year and wondered how my belly would do. I made sure to not let the stress of the wedding get to me--that helped keep me calm and more regular. I also ate almost all SF for the week before the wedding. I felt it was important to know I was eating super safe and shouldn't be getting any symptoms. As for the day of, I think I took 1/2 an immodium--just in case and that set my mind at ease. As for the reception, I wanted to eat, but was too busy, so I asked the guy in charge to box up a little bit of everything for our B&B we were staying in that night. That way I got to eat it all, but in the safety of our room (of course praying I wouldn't get sick on the honeymoon...which I did not). So hope that helps. Just remember to enjoy it!

Oh I was so unstable before my wedding I thought I'd never make it through the day, but I did without any trouble!

I was cautious for a few days before. I had immodium with me just in case. I had a lousy sleep the night before because I stayed at my grandparents house instead of my own. (Superstitious grandma). But I started my day with peppermint tea, then had a french roll and chicken soup for lunch, then went off and got married!! I had customized the menu for my wedding beforehand and they knew I couldn't have any dairy so my meal was specially prepared for me and I didn't have any trouble. I even had a small glass of wine for the toast to the bride. I must admit, in all the excitement of the day I forgot about my tum! I was frantic because the minister was late, but my tum didn't get upset. It was the best day of my life. I wish you the very same!!

Good luck in the last days before the wedding. They are the most stressful I found. Just remember to breath, relax and be a happy bride!!

I got married with IBS but before I started EFI. I actually had an attack the morning of. I wanted to crawl into a hole and die - not today, of ALL days! Thankfully I stabilized in time, and the rest of the day went by without incident.

But like I said, I wasn't doing EFI then. I was sitting in the hotel restaurant with my mom and my bridesmaids eating Eggs Benny for breakfast when the attack hit. We had all eaten out at Applebees the night before, after the rehearsal. God only knows what I'd been eating in the days prior. I was also letting stress get to me physically a lot more then. I am better with this now, possibly because I am much more stable.

Good luck, and chances are you will probably be fine! Just eat lots of soluble fiber in the days beforehand, and try to stay as far away as possible from any trigger foods!

Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!
