Recently I was talking with a co-worker who's friend "has the same problem" that I do. She says her friend takes 2 shots of apple cider vinegar a day and that I'd be crazy not to start. Just from the sounds of it and the small amount of research I've done, this doesn't sound like a good idea at all. Has anyone ever tried this? If so, what are your thoughts?

Before I knew that I had IBS I was googling different things and came across that, and desperate for anything I tried it, but it didn't do anything for me.

I actually heard someplace that Fergie said (I believe in an interview with Glamour or Cosmo) she did this to 'cleanse' out toxins in her colon....I'm not sure how it would be for IBS'ers though!!

I have also seen this mentioned as a treatment for IBS. Been to afraid to try it, but I'm very curious!

Any specific brand or type of ACV?

I actually just started taking one tablet of Apple Cider Vinegar per day. Ironically, it wasn't for IBS - my mom said she's been taking it over 5-6 years now and hasn't had a cold since. I was sold and decided to give it a try! It doesn't seem to have affected my IBS either way yet, but I've only been taking it since Friday.

Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
