So, I'm trying to get pregnant for the first time and a friend who is pregnant recently told me that her doctor told her to stay away from soy because it is harmful to the baby (something about pasteurization and levels of estrogen). I eat a ton of soy products!! I googled "soy and pregnancy" and found several articles attributing soy to miscarriage and infertility. Mostly it was referring to processed soy products (TVP, soy isolate protein, carageenan). I am not sure if this is a case of junk science or what??? I'm wondering if anyone has any feedback or better yet, solid scientific research : )

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. You definetely need to ask your OB....

I will be trying to get pregnant in about 3-4 months. I eat a ton of soy products too. I've heard about the rumors concerning the safety of soy, but frankly they are just that - rumors. Nothing has been proven. Asian populations have eaten soy and soy products for centuries and they are some of the healthiest people on the planet.

If you are ocncerned, though, you should definately ask your doctor!
