I was thinking of getting a bread cooker becasue I don't really have the time to knead dough and in my whirlwind household someone is sure to open the conventional oven door while the bread is rising so.......... does anyone use a bread cooker and if so, have you had good results with Heather's bread recipies in it?
I'm fed up of running to the grocery store just to buy fresh bread and i would love the smell of fresh baking in my house

I have used a breadmaker at least twice a week for 10 years. The results are fantastic. I would be lost without it to make my sourdough bread

I have only owned Black & Decker breadmakers. I suspect most economical breadmakers perform about the same.
The paddles in some breadmakers including mine may stick tight to the shaft that turns them making it difficult to remove the loaf from the pan. I think it depends on the gluten content of the bread flour used but I am not certain. I start a timer when I start the bread machine that beeps one minute before the last knead starts. When the kneading is done I open the lid, gently lift the dough and remove the paddles from the spindles, lower the dough and close the lid. This guarantees that when the loaf is baked it will come out of the loaf pan easier

I never thought of getting a bread machine? Would this be preferable from an IBS point of view to store bought breads that are organic?

I have a bread machine and I love it!!! I can make most bread recipes in it and even nicer is that I know what's inside. While you can bake the bread right in the machine, I prefer to use the "dough" setting. It makes great dough and it only takes me a few minutes to form the dough into a baguette shape, let rise for a few more minutes and then pop into the oven.
