I started the IBS diet last Wednesday, and I haven't gone to the bathroom since. I started taking acacia fiber Thursday I believe...twice a day. So here I am at Monday and nada. My mom is freaking out because she believes 3 days is the max you can go without a BM. And I'm starting to eat trigger foods to try to stimulate the juices if ya know what I mean. I also took some Benefiber last night and Citrucel this morning thinking the acacia might not be cutting it. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Thanks!

Edited to add: I have had chronic diarreha for 6 weeks now ranging from a day to a week without it. That's why I started the IBS diet. None of my docs were any help in finding a cure for it. I feel better with the IBS diet, but I can't obviously never go again lol.

You're probably eating all or mostly SF and not enough IF. Even IBS-Ders need some IF to help things along. I'd suggest adding IF while continuing to eat SF to cushion it rather than eating trigger foods. Smoothies can be a good way to get some IF in safely - make with bananas, peaches, and blueberries, for example, to get a good SF cushion along with some well-pureed IF.

Also, you need to be sure you're getting enough fluids to help the Acacia do its job.

Benefiber and Citrucel won't make a difference because they are pure SF just like Acacia.

HTH.
