After my post last night re: Dicyclomine, I had an attack around 11:00pm. So,as I should know....NEVER speak too soon Also, my bowel habits even with DYCLO aren't "normal" but normal enough to have a somewhat happy life.

I guess I also should have mentioned in my post that IBS never really goes away, especially the kind of IBS that is just part of you (me). I've ALWAYS had it...not like it just started 1 month, 2 years or 6 years ago...25 long, long years.

DUMB THINGS PEOPLE SAY:
"No, I can not "make it to the bathroom"

"No, just because there's a bathroom at "insert location" I still don't want to go just in case"

"No, Immodium won't make it go away."

"No, you DON'T know what I mean"

I have a million HORRIBLE experiences and know too much about "poop." Kinda sounds silly. But, I'm not laughing. Do you know that someone at work actually said to me "Oh, I HAD IBS last year, and it went away. Maybe yours will go away too!" YEAH...maybe Dumb***.

I'm sure we have all heard our share.
Thanks for listening.

Robbie

Oh yes, we had a whole thread going in the Living Room about the stupid things people say! You can see it here.

And yeah, IBS doesn't just "go away". I've had it go into what could be considered a "remission" of sorts, but it doesn't just go away.

IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!

actually only less than 40% of people with ibs report having a remission, so most will not have them and ibs is a chronic condition. Also, about 25% of people with ibs can eventually reclaim there gut health. but for the rest they are stuck with it. ibs can go away, and if it does it can come back (for the majority), but it does not always. now if you have had it since you were born or since you were 6 or 12 or for 30 years you are probably in the majority, but you will learn how to control it. pi- ibs can go away after a few years and even some non pi ibs. so hang in there guys and be positive cause it won't go if you keep stressing and adding to it you know. stress does not cause it but it can definitely trigger an attack.
