Lot's of you eat "milk" or cheese substitutes that contain this. I read that everyone with IBS should not eat anything with this ingredient as it increases spasms.
Any thoughts?

I have read recently numerous articles stating that Carageenan is really not good for human consumption. Some of the articles have stated that it can cause Colitis and Crohn's disease. I was drinking Almond Breeze everyday and my intestines were terrible. I noticed Carageenan in my milk and stopped drinking it and my intestines are greatly improving. It is in a whole lot of processed foods and even rice milk. Check your labels and avoid processed foods with this in it. The articles also state it has been linked to gastrointestinal malignancies. It also states that yes it is a seaweed but that doesn't mean humans should eat it.

I have Almond Breeze Vanilla Unsweetened on my oatmeal every morning and use it for my banana/mango smoothie every day at lunch. My IBS-D is currently the best it has been in many years...not saying this is the reason, just saying it sure is not hurting.
Once more...just goes to show how different we all are!!

I think that some people may have a sensitivity to it. I find that I do if I drink alot in one day. I am almost positive it is the caraggean because there is a brand (some Almond Dream brands) without the carageeean that does not bother me at all. I get this at whole foods.
