Is it normal and what on earth causes it?

Passing mucous (without blood) with a BM is actually just another symptom of IBS. Spasms in the colon cause an increased production of it. IBS used to be known as mucous colitis.

I USED to get it all the time! At least a couple of times a week, if not more, for years. But since I've started this diet it is the ONE symptom that seems to have gone away 100%. It's been over 2 and a half months now! I don't know if it's the Acacia, lack of dairy, reduced fat, all of the above, or what... but I like not having it anymore!
-------------------- IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!

Had it all the time when I was having attacks. It went away when I became stable.
