I actually weighed myself again on the weekend and was surprised to see that I was down to 136! I find this pretty amazing since the lowest I have ever weighed (as an adult of course) is 132 lbs - and that was 8 years ago while I was strictly dieting, working out at the gym 3-4 times a week, and NOT working at a desk job (I was doing retail and on my feet constantly). The only thing I have going for me this time is that I'm "dieting".

I've found that I'm down about one and a half sizes, depending on the clothing brand. I say one and a half because I seem to be "between" sizes for most brands now! The one downside to all this weight loss of course is that I have to spend money to replace so much of my wardrobe. I've gotten to the point where I HAVE to now – last week I showed my husband how I could pull down my favourite pair of jeans without even unbuttoning or unzipping them!

I lost 50+ pounds over the course of about a year on the diet. I was very strict, including eating small portions (overeating even safe foods can mess with me). I went from a size 16+ to a size 8 (sometimes 6). I've been this size for a little over a year now. Had to buy an entirely new wardrobe, regular clothes, undies, bras, PJs.... EVERYTHING!

I'm 5'7", and I weigh approx 130 pounds. Gotta love it... I weigh less now than I did in high school!

Yup - me too! I was slightly on the pudgy side in high school - I was 5'4" and weighed 160 lbs. If I recall correctly I wore a size 14. I am now able to wear a size 10, and it's a little loose depending on the brand. But 8 is still too small.

I'm trying to put off replacing all my clothes - my hubby and I want to buy a house in a few months and I don't want to be blowing money on a whole new wardrobe! Luckily I have a few leftover pants from the last time I lost weight, but I normally have this habit of donating clothes as soon as I outgrow them. And I still haven't replaced my jeans! They were the V-cut jeans from Victoria's Secret and I LOVE them. I have a light-coloured pair and a dark pair, BOTH too big, and it would cost me over $100 to replace them (I have to order them from the US, so after shipping, tax, and duty, the cost increases by at least 50%). I also bought some fabulous bras at a Lane Bryant store last October when I went down to Washington, and now those are way too big for me, too! Aaaargh!

Erlyn, I'm 5"4 and 160 and I want to lose weight before my wedding in May. sigh. It's been tough. Did you lose it by strictly following the diet? Did you workout? I am trying to pump myself to strictly follow Heather's diet because we are buying a house, wedding planning and my tummy is a mess. I cheat constantly and I know it needs to stop. Did you find you just lost weight by cutting out the bad IBS foods? thanks!

Hi Wendy. Congrats on your wedding! I actually did lose the weight simply by following Heather's diet. I don't really cheat at all. Since November I have not had one "forbidden" meal. Over Christmas I had a couple of glasses of alcohol and a few "bad" cookies, but that's pretty much it. I really don't cheat – and I think that's why the weight has just fallen off. I think constantly about what I'm putting in my mouth and I never had that kind of diligence with a weight-loss diet before. In the past, cheating just meant I would set back my weight loss. NOW, cheating means I could make myself sick, so it's just not worth it anymore.

I work a desk job and lead a very sedentary life. I am a bonafide couch potato. During evenings and weekends I am either watching TV, doing cross-stitch, or playing a video game – activities that all involve a lot of sitting! However, every day after dinner, I use my stationary exercise bike for about 10 minutes. Just 10 minutes a day, that's it. I doubt very much that it has helped with any weight loss, I just do it to help my digestion.

Erlyn, thanks for responding. I am going to really give it a try. I probably need to switch my thinking and do it for my poor tummy. It's been to heck and back. I had cancer ten years ago and the treatments are what brought on my IBS. I'm really going to try to focus on taking care of myself and eating properly. I love love love Heather's book and when I do follow her suggestions, I'm fine. I just need to do that all the time.
