Hi, I'm 17 weeks pregnant and was recently diagnosed with IBS that started immediately after the birth of my son 21 months ago. My symptoms GREATLY improved from about weeks 8 to weeks 16 of this pregnancy. I was thrilled until they came back with a vengeance last week.
How has pregnancy affected your IBS???? For those diagnosed who had it before the birth of a child how did it change after that birth?
I know everybody is different but I'd love to hear the experiences of others....
Thanks!!

I'm 17 weeks pregnant, also. This is my first pregnancy. I was diagnosed with IBS around 5 years ago. Before I got pregnant I really was just starting to feel I had a handle on this IBS thing. I was finally accepting it and trying to not let it rule my life. Then I got pregnant and I have honestly been feeling awful since.
I'm starting to get a little C when I have always been D. Of course, it's the pregnancy that is doing that. I think it makes it hard for me because I can't do the one thing that used to help me when I would get attachs - a heat pack. The heat packs are what saved me most of the time but because we can't use that while pregnant I have to just suffer through them.
My diet is different because we need to eat fruits and veggies for the baby so that may be contributing to my attacks. So it has been a real struggle for me. I can't wait until this is all over and the baby is here! I count down the weeks.
How is your pregnancy? I have my ultrasound tomorrow and will be finding out the sex of the baby. Very exciting!

I am so glad you guys posted. As we are going to start trying again in the new year. But have been scared what it would feel like since the IBS sometimes feels like you have a baby in there..LOL Can you take the arcadia when preggo? because maybe that would help the C. What vitamins are you taking? Maybe they can adjust that to help. Since I have been purreing veggies or fruits and adding to rice or making a soup has helped my C a little. I know you need to feed the baby now. Perhaps fing a dietician would help to. Best of luck to both of you!!
P.S. Are either one of you taking Zoloft or any other AD while preggo?
