I keep seeing a commercial for Italian Bertolli frozen dinners that are made with pasta, seafood and olive oil. Has anyone tried them? Are they safe?

Thanks.
Tatyana.

I don't know, to be honest I'm scared to eat these (not this particular brand but all of them in general) because I think they must have a lot of preservatives, even if they're frozen. I think it's safer to make a big meal that freezes well and then freeze it in small containers, that's what I do.

I'm not sure about these meals, I've never checked out the rest of the ingredients...I have tried a few of the Weight Watchers Smart Ones without any problem....if you're brave enough to try them out let me know

I made a special trip to Safeway to find out if Bertolli dinners were safe. Every kind had milk, cheese or cream in it except one kind: Shripm and Pena Primavera: 15g fat, no dairy, no HFS ($7.89 a package, contains 2 servings).

Almost all of the Lean Cuisine varieties have milk ingredients in them - except for the Teriyaki Chicken. I don't know what it is about these "modified milk ingredients", but SO many processed foods seem to have it. I was all excited thinking I could still eat the Lipton Sidekicks rice packages but nooooo - they all have milk in them!

Although, I'm sure these trace amounts are probably safe for most of us, unless you are REALLY sensitive to milk.

Good to know - thanks for posting that! Although 15g of fat is a little high, I guess...

I like Amy's Kitchen frozen meals. They are all organic and are clearly labeled which ones have milk, soy, wheat, etc. A lot of them use soy cheese if you can handle that.

Whole foods carries them and I've found them at my local grocery store as well. Her pizza's are pretty good.

The website (www.amyskitchen.com) has a list of stores that carry them, at least for the US.

I bought one of her dairy-free bean & rice enchiladas on the weekend, but I haven't tried it yet.
