My biggest trigger is pasta sauce! I was wanting to try some of the soups on here( I am tried of chicken noodle) but they call for either crushed tomatoes or veggie broth or tomoatoe paste or can tomatoes! I was just wondering would they have the same effect as the sauce or not?? I can eat fresh tomatoes ok!!
thanks!

If you are ok with fresh tomatoes then I think canned tomatoes should be OK. Make sure to buy the kind with no salt added. Pasta sauces just have way way too many additives so you can't really tell which one makes you sick . In meals when I can get away with it I just use tomato puree instead of tomato sauce and add more herbs for flavor.

I have a similar problem with tomatoes. I make a homemade tomato sauce. The recipe for two serving is

2-3 tbs Hunt's pure tomato paste
1/2 cup chicken stock
1 tbs olive or canola oil
2-3 tbs red wine (optional)
1-2 tbs basil
crushed small clove garlic (optional)
salt and pepper to taste.
1 tsp fresh squeezed lemon juice

Simmer 10-15 minutes until the sauce is the thickness you like. Let stand for 1-2 hours. Reheat and serve when needed.

I add 2 teaspoons of dextrose to offset the excess fructose in the tomato paste and I remove the garlic crushed garlic clove before serving.

Be careful of the tomato paste some types contain other ingredients besides tomatoes.

Boy, I thought I was the only one! Any kind of jarred pasta sauce is a big problem for me, but like you, fresh tomatoes are no problem at all. I have put canned crushed tomatoes in chili, and other things, with no trouble, and I've also made my own homemade pasta sauce, from a recipe I found on line, and had no trouble. I'm still trying to figure out what it is in the jar stuff that tears my belly up. Hunts seems to be the brand with the least amount of additives, so that all I use. Hope this helps.
