Does anyone know if the fiber in peanut butter is soluable or insoluable? and how 'safe' is it for me with IBS-C...I am new here and just learning to distinguish between the 2 types of fiber...

Peanut Butter is very high in fat and most people are touchy with it. Treat it as IF and always have just a little with high cal, low fat food like bread.

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Use low-fat, creamy, organic pb and use small amounts to see how you do. I have it almost every day and do ok with it, but some people can't handle it. Just make sure you have it with a soluble fiber (SF) like a bagel.

I use a brand called Better 'n' Penut butter. I buy it at the Health food store and it is very low in fat, sodium and calories. It is fantastic and I eat it several times a week.
I am also IBS-C

IF means insoluble fiber and SF means soluble. Although the creaming of the peanuts to make peanut butter makes it less insoluble you cannot treat peanut butter like a SF source. It has to be eaten with bread, crackers etc.
