I have had IBS-D with abdominal pain for the past two years, been on the diet for 1 1/2 years, no meds (just probiotics), and consider myself pretty stable. Lately I have been experiencing sharp, shooting pain around my the inside of my anus area. When I try to go to the restroom it can be pretty painful. I would think this could possibly be a symptom of constipation (which I do not typically experience), but I am having several normal bowel movements daily. Anyone able to offer any info??

I get constipated a lot and I get this sort of pain, but not only when I am constipated. I get that when I ate something not safe. What is your diet like? That could be just a sign that you're eating something bad. It's a very sharp pain that makes me jump. If it keeps coming and doesn't go away even with the correct diet, I suggest you see a doc for any ovarian cysts.

I agree with the other post. I have experienced this pain a few times and always after I ate something unsafe or when I eat too much IF. It's almost like my colon is spasming or something. I still experience poops with the pain and sometimes pooping is the only way I can get the pain to go away. Maybe try and make a journal of when you experience this pain and see what you ate prior to it. Look for a correlation to possible triggers.

It is the kind of pain that makes me jump. Regarding the ovarian cyst, I actually had one that ruptured, or at least they think I had one, around the time I had the pain the first time (about three weeks ago). My GYN found a lot of fluid in my pelvis. This time the pain is not quite the same. My diet is very routine and IBS safe. Lately I have integrated more fruit into my diet, only because it seems I haven't eaten it in so long. But, I usually cook it or eat the kind of fruit that has not bothered me in the past. I usually don't mind pain if I know what is causing it, but I will definitely seek medical attention if it continues. I just wanted to know if it was an IBS-related issue.

At first when my IBS started bothering me, I was also told that it was a cyst but others said I had no cyst. Then they told me that it was my appendix. Then they said it was my lungs, then said that I must've pulled a muscle. Oy, and every time they said it was possible but no one ever knew what it was till my friend told me about IBS. Also, I get those shooting pains if I get a cold from a cold restroom (like an open window in the restroom). I tend to catch a cold like that so I use heating pad for a couple of days and everything goes away. Good luck.
