Hi,

I am trying to figure out my acacia dosages and my biggest question is this...somewhere back on the message boards from years ago I read a posting by Heather that said that the general rule for diarrhea is to use up to 12-15 grams SFS daily and if you you still have diarrhea, it is something other than IBS. I do know that I have IBS and I don't have diarrhea anymore, but I also do not have bulk stools yet either, except sometimes in the morning, if they are not a bit diarrheaish. Later in the day I just seem to have more gas and small stools. My acacia dosage right now is 1 T in the morning, 1 T before dinner and 1/2 tsp. before bed. Should I stop increasing or should I keep going until I have bulky stools? I'm approaching that 12-15 g/day mark that Heather mentioned so I'm wondering if it is pointless to raise the acacia anymore. Any help would be so appreciated!

Kathy

Are you sure that that is the highest amount suggested? (I don't recall but I'm sure it's somewhere on this site) It doesn't sound like your taking THAT much acacia. Also, are you getting SF from your foods? Maybe if you posted a sample of your daily diet someone can help better.

Yeah, I think I am going to keep increasing the acacia. My diet is stable...I follow the guidelines, and know I will pay when I don't, like when I ate out last night. I've just started eating more IF in the last month and want to stay with that, so am hoping the later part of my day will get better as I increase my acacia. Thanks for your help!
