Peppermint capsules

I have only been recently(last 5 wks) been diagnosed, although I'm sure that I have had IBS for many years. I have been using the peppermint capsules as directed on an empty stomach. This morning, I could feel peppermint reflux. Are they just as effective with food? Or, will I still be having reflux, just not tasting peppermint? ALL of this has been such a change for me in how I eat. I am just trying to feel better. Anyone have any advice?

I know when I started taking them (and I actually haven't been taking them in a while) I used to take them first thing when I woke up and I used to sometimes burp up a little peppermint and it was kind of gross and it slightly burned my throat. Eventually I felt that it stopped happening after I took them for awhile. Now I really just drink fennel and peppermint tea and I take Beano and Ginger caps occassionally. Have been feeling pretty good lately!

Now my morning routine is to take a shower and have two cups of fennel tea while getting dressed in the morning. Then, after I have gone to the bathroom at least once I take my prescription Immodium. If I still don't feel good during the day I drink throught out the day whatever tea suits my ailment (fennel for gas/peppermint for D). I find lately that drinking a lot of water helps me out considerably to feel better. Good luck!
