Birth control question

Does being predominitely IBS-D affect the effectivness of the birth control pill? I have diarrhea 1-4 times every day, and worry about it lessening the effectivness of the pill....

hiya chrissy, its definitely something to think about. i used to be on the pill microgyne (im from the uk, so may be different in the us)and i was told that severe dirreoah or sickness could make it less effective. my doctor reassured me that it would only be in the case of very severe dirreoah such as food posioning etc, the kind when you cant get of the toilet etc! but eventually i just didnt trust it enough and because after d it can effect for up7 days after, i decided to switch to the evra patch, which absorbs into your body through skin, not digestion system. i think i prob over-worried, but better to be safe than sorry!
