I bought the yogurt Activia today to try out and I just can't stomach the taste. So, can someone tell me which brand of probiotic is the best to take? I see many different kinds and forms and I'm just not sure.
Thanks.

Preferably you should get a probiotic that does not contain dairy (I think Activia is dairy type yoghurt right). There are many people on the boards who can help you out with brands.

i just found a really good one, on the expensive side, though, but worth it. Bio-K Plus soy formula. this is non dairy. it looks like a container of yogurt. you only need to take 1/2 the container per day. it's equiv. to 100 containers of yogurt!! not found in regular dairy section of store. i found it in the organic section of wegmans food markets in a little refridgerator with other probiotics. i don't think the tablets work. i think you need active, live cultures. wholefoods may have it as well. i'll check on the internet to see where you can find it. i've done really well with it. i notice improvement.

Yes, Activia is a dairy yogurt. I thought there was a pill form or powder that you could use.

I just started taking Digestive Advantage IBS (2 days ago, so not sure if it helps any yet). It's not very expensive, but the ones you can find at the store have an artifical sweetener in them. To get the caplets without the sweetener, you have to order them online - you can get them from Amazon.

I use FloraQ (a capsule)that is gluten/dairy free. I noticed a big improvement. You'll have to ask your pharmacist or it can be bought online.

Yogurt is still dairy and should be avoided. It's better to take probiotics in pill form. Some people here are used Bio-K Plus, Primal Defense, Align, and Flora Q with good results.

I use the pill form -- iFlora Acidophilus (made by Sedona Labs - I buy it online). I don't know if everyone knows this but if you take a probiotic you should take it on an empty stomach -- either 20 minutes before you eat or 1 hour after you eat. Then take your prebiotic like Acacia fiber and they work together.
