Urgh, I lost the plot and ate a chocolate cupcake last night, fat, milk and whole eggs all in one stupid error, so I panicked, vomited and took laxatives and today I'm a mess, mentally and physically, guilty and strung out about self-discipline issues and food issues and everything else.

Careful, or you might end up with an eating disorder, and making your IBS a lot worse than what it is. In my opinion you should have just let nature take its course instead of vomiting and taking laxatives. People sometimes make mistakes but next time you want to eat trigger foods, think to yourself if what you're going through now is worth it.

I think Gracie's right. I'm sorry you panicked so much and are suffering as a result. I've done similar things to you before and it really messes me up for a few days. I've now learnt that it's really important to not let yourself get strung out over these things because it's psychologically harmful and if done regularly becomes habit forming which is when things really start to go downhill (i've been there unfortunately). I'd suggest self-talking i.e. just say things to yourself like "don't panic, it'll be ok at some point, i'm more than my IBS and my body". It may sound ridiculous but it really helps me. I also try to think about positive things such as things i love to do and my strengths so that my self-esteem doesn't get affected too much as when one is low in confidence it's much harder to deal with blips in diet and stressors. Hope this helps.

Hey, yeah I probably should try it. I don't know. I'm seeing a counsellor on Monday as I really need some help dealing with the strung-outness... I don't know. I hate feeling like a nutcase. But it's a pattern I've dealt with before and I desperately don't want to again. It will be alright. Just gotta chill and concentrate on other things in life!!!
