Hello
Is this where you ask for help? I appear to have both gluten intolerance and IBS. I began the Specific Carbohydrate Diet two weeks ago (no dairy, grains, sugar) and my arthritis cleared, and some of my fatigue, but the agonizing bloating/constipation remain undaunted! Now, considering the IBS diet, I am totally confused, because if I combine the forbidden foods for both diets, that pretty much leaves bananas and water!
I wish I didn't have to eat at all, because I look six months pregnant all the time, am in pain, have been in track pants for two and a half years to accommodate the evening bloat (when I wax to the fullest), and am truly sick of myself and my guts, yada yada yada...
I can't make any of the recipes in either book-the SCD replaces grains with almonds, and I don't digest oils. I don't digest ANYTHING! But I get sooo hungry. Unfortunate isn't it?
I really don't know what to do.

I understand what you are going through. I am not gluten intolerant, just wheat intolerant. But it is still rough sometimes. I do know of some foods that you can eat though. For breads try Food For Life, they make rice breads that are pretty good, and Ezekiel just uses the sprouted grains which make it easier to digest. Let me think some more about the products, but believe me all it takes is a little research and you can find food that won't make you sick!

And I have dealt with the pregnant belly for many years as well, so I feel your pain. I hope you get this and that soon you can start to feel better!

Thanks for the suggestion. My singlemost violent trigger food is bread/cake/cookies-in any form! Even the yeast/gluten free breads cause trauma as soon as I've swallowed it-and these have always been my "calming comfort" foods. HA! The rice breads have so much fruit sugar in them-and I couldn't figure out why until recently-it might be a binding agent in place of the gluten. I don't like them much.

I have been trying to eliminate grains/carbs altogether for a while, but I get job/kid stress, and I'm suffocating and FIGHTING not to eat my way out.

I recently made bread from almond flour, which is delicious, and if I slice a VERY thin slice, it doesn't stop my clock. But just when I think all is well, BOOM! The bloat returns. Every 2 or 3 days. But with the fiber, it resolves much faster. I'm still waiting for Heather's books in the mail to find out what these "bland foods" are...not much is given away for free! So thanks for your advice!

I am so sorry you are suffering so much. I had a hard time for awhile finding breads that I could eat too, I know there is some kind of bread out there you can eat, you just have to find it! I will try to research some more, it sounds like you are busy with a job and kids, and I know that stress can only worsen the symptoms.

If you need relief from bloating and gas, I recommend taking a ginger based pill called Reflux Away, it is made by the Natural Care company and it really does work wonders!

I hope you will get better and that you can find breads and other foods that you can actually enjoy that won't make you sick.

Take care!

Gluten intolerance means you can't tolerate food with gluten but there are many alternatives. So is it just gluten intolerance you have or is it a more general intolerance i.e. that you have problems with carbs in general?

All carbs, but particularly gluten, (fatigue, arthritis) rice, cereals, -all foods with any kind of sugar, fruit esp (!!!) KAPOWWWW! eggs, fried foods, raw vegetables, potatoes (yowwza!!) soy, dairy, even kefir, -you name it-I can't eat it!

Oh-I can handle some steamed vegetables, and vegetable broth with cayenne pepper is very soothing, but monotonous as heck! I do better if I eliminate all oils, but get superdry skin...but I guess one can't have everything...

If I could only fast w/o passing out...

I'll find the answer, sooner or later...

This is quite a severe situation so I think you need to work together with a doctor and a nutritionist to solve this one. You have to be able to eat something. Nutritionists/dietitians can also prescribe different nutrition solutions for you to drink to make sure you don't get too little energy et.c.

I hope you get help with this soon.
