I'm so confused. A year ago I had severe stomach pains and had all kinds of tests which were negative so my doctor said I had IBS. I went on the low fat diet and got better for a while. Then I had an attack and was in the hospital for three days with an "inflamed pancreas". I decided if I was going to hurt anyway, why not eat some food I liked. So I've had pizza, chocolate, caffeine, carbonated drinks, and eggs. (I'm still afraid to try dairy or high fat foods). But I'm fine except that my stomach still hurts and I can hardly wear anything around my waist but no bad attacks, no worse off than when I was on the strict diet. Is it possible I really don't have IBS? And if not, then what's wrong with me? My gastro doc doesn't seem to have any answers (an MRI and upper GI recently were normal). Any advice? Thanks.
