When you guys are gassy and bloated do you increase or decrease your IF intake? I am getting gas attacks lately and have decreased my IF intake but then find I am constipated. What do you guys suggest?

Hey- IBS makes life interesting....never a dull moment:)

Well, I've been going through a "gas expansion" period lately--and I decided to give up acacia for a few days and try some different SF/IF fiber blends from the health food store.

I don't have things figured out---I'm lost right now. Can't figure it out. First I think I'm not getting enough IF to prevent C. Then I think something else---like I decided to quit wearing jeans with a belt and go to loose clothing. Thinking maybe the constriction at the waist is causing my bowels to clench up.

It seems my gas, bloating, & pain are directly related to the amount of stress I am under. To ease it, I drink more fennel tea and chew some of the seeds. I usually have to wash them down with water. The seeds are soft enough to chew after they have been used to brew the tea.
I don't do anything to adjust my SF/IF intake because it took me a long time to find the right balance.
Hope this helps.

I honestly think getting up to a high enough dose of Acacia has helped TREMENDOUSLY. I take 1 tablespoon three times daily. I no longer get that "after dinner" gas that used to plague me daily!!

I'm also eating a lot more IF than I used to. I've been incorporating whole grains as much as I can. For example, when I eat a veggie burger, I'll either do a "hybrid bun" (half white, half wheat - DH eats the other half of each!), or an all-wheat bun. Maybe try some new/difference IF sources?
