I've been pretty stable for over a year now, but I am toying with adding a probiotic. Has anyone else started taking own after you became stable and what sort of changes did you notice?

I added one while stable after reading about lots of benefits of taking a probiotic. IBS-wise I noticed a difference right away. I had to take less Imodium (even 1 might make me C now, so I take them in 1/2 doses) and I have less gas/bloating at night. I've been eating more veggies and fat than I used to as well. I went off the probiotics for about a month and some symptoms returned with gas and bloating. I'm back on them again and doing well.

Thanks for the feedback. I may well give it a try. Not sure which I'll try yet, though.

Be careful...some have lactose/dairy in them. Your HFS will have safe ones.

Check the refrigerated section of your HFS. For some reason, I found that the probiotics there have less chance of having dairy in them.

I use probiotics. There is website called attune.com and they sell these fabulous chocolate bars that have probiotics in them, and they also have a new item, granola yougurt bars for people who can tolerate dairy. They aren't necessarily cheap, but they are shipped overnight cold to keep the cultures alive. I've been told you can also get these at Whole Foods.
