I started out with peas, green beans, and spinach, and I found them all pretty gentle on the tum - especially the peas.

Spinach (cooked) is my safest green. Zucchini/summer squash is always safe, too. Asparagus and green beans are generally gentle as are peas. In terms of other coloured veggies, gentle ones (for me) include beets, carrots, and winter squash. Celery, for some strange reason always disagrees with me.

And yes, they are IF. I would definitely give them a try if you can handle cherry tomatoes - tomatoes are one of those things that a lot of IBS'ers complain about not being able to digest, so if you can handle them, that's pretty good!

Also, I don't know what greens are available to you in your area, but if you can eat spinach, you can also branch out and try other types of greens, for the sake of variety. Beet greens, collard greens, and kale are all popular here.

I second the peas suggestion...in fact, right now I'm making a scrumptious tuna casserole with peas, zucchini and mushrooms! So far, I've found that peas are the easiest IF to add in, and they are super good, too Just remember to start with smaller quantities and balance with SF in your meals.

Peas weren't so good when I was stabilizing. Green beans, on the other hand, have always been very good to me. Mushrooms are also good.

Strangely, except for maybe a month, I've also always been good with raw carrots. I guess those really tear some folks up.

I actually started eating raw IF again (lettuce and tomatoes) by putting it on a sandwich... I found it was a really safe way to try it.

Remember that no IF food are "unsafe"! They just have to be eaten safely, with SF to cushion them.

Know what's weird? When I was stabilizing, mushrooms *killed* me. Now that things are relatively normal, I can eat them again, but boy, were they a problem in the beginning... and that's something that doesn't seem to bother most people.

I've always been able to do the raw carrots, too.

Don't forget about Swiss chard! I'm on a real kick with it now, and it seems a bit easier to deal with than kale. And I really like the fluorescent stems...
