Which IF vegies are less gas producing? My daughter has only been eating cooked carrots, canned peas and cooked green beans for her vegies for quite some time now. She has slow motility so wanted to add a little more IF veggie to see if would help move BM's down better without producing more gas for her which is very painful. Would cooked spinach be OK? Any other IF veggies?
Thank you

Unfortunately, the best thing you can do is try various vegetables and see how she handles them. Everyone is different. I, for example, can eat ANY vegetable, raw or cooked, and now that my system is used to them, I don't get gas at all. Other people can't handle many IF veggies at all. Spinach, for me, was a good one right at first. But beyond that? Experiment. Sorry there's no better answer for that one!

You eat bell peppers now?

I would say spinach, some other greens, green beans, zucchini and asparagus would be safest of IF.
I would say broccoli, onions, peppers, cucumber, cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts would be more gassy.
I handle everything but cabbage ok for veggies. I eat a ton of broccoli and quite a bit of asparagus, spinach and bok choy.

I agree with Little Minnie's suggestions. I eat alot of zucchini and summer squash. Cooked spinach is one of my safest veggies. I do well with sweet potatoes and beets, green beans, asparagus, and mushrooms. Another one of my safest "greens" is swiss chard.

Broccoli, cauliflower, and anything cruciferous can really destroy my stability unless I use Beano and only eat a very very tiny token amount. Ironically, I do fine with beans/legumes when taken with Beano. Without Beano, I'd be a walking bombshell, but not in a good way. Also, I'd be in tremendous pain and discomfort.

Berries are really great sources of IF, especially when blended. I tolerate those without a problem.

Kate, IBS-D.
