I'm new to the diet and saw that angel food cake is supposed to be a safe food. My daughter wants it for her birthday on Wednesday and when I was reading the ingredients on the box it listed nonfat dry milk as the last ingredient. Is this ok for me to eat or not? I'm so confused.....

No, I usually avoid it if there is any kind of milk ingredient. I usually buy mine at the grocery store bakery. The labels on those (at Kroger) did not have any milk in them.

A homemade angel food cake is very easy to make and does not contain any milk products. It is one of my staple desserts.
For example see recipe 1 and recipe 2

For some insane reason, at least some of the major name brand manufacturers put dairy in their angel food cake mix. The amount is small enough to not bother me - except for the aggravation - but if you're not yet stable I'd avoid it.
As JulieE says, you might do better looking at some store brands. You could also see if your store has ready-made angel food cakes - I've had luck finding those without dairy. Or check with an actual bakery to see if their angel food cakes have dairy.
I hope this helps and I hope your daughter has a great birthday tomorrow.

I really hate it when companies add non fat milk to the mix. I know Pillsbury's angel food cake mix does not contain any milk at all and is safe. So you may want to try that, or make your own. There are recipes on the boards. HTH

Thanks for the recipes. I'll try the store first and then bake if need to. My girls are really trying to be helpful with checking ingredients and I'm sure that is why my daughter picked the angel food cake. Wouldn't want her to see me not eat any.
