Does the yeast extract in the all natural swanson bother you too?
As much as I can't stand Emeril, he makes excellent stock. I have tried all 3 and the two safe ones are great! (chicken and veggie) They come in the asceptic containers.

Imagine makes a low-fat, no msg chicken broth. Comes in a carton, and is sold at HF stores. Delicious. Trader Joe's puts out a low-fat broth as well, (and it's organic) sold in a carton.

Pacific Natural Free Range Chicken Broth - Available at Whole Foods and some other grocery stores

Kitchen Basics Natural Chicken Cooking Stock - Available at grocery stores

Whole Foods 365 Day Chicken Broth - Available at Whole Foods

Cut a small whole fryer into pieces. Cover with water. Add carrots, celery and salt for flavour. Bring to a slow boil and let it boil for 60 mins. Let cool. Remove meat from bones. Put stock and meat in containers and place in the fridge. Remove the small layer of fat on top of the stock before using.

I make a pot of chicken stock once a week using from a small fryer that usually costs me about $3.00. It makes enough stock for 6-8 servings. It is guaranteed not to have any preservatives or other triggers.

Good Luck

You have to look for the ones that are 100% fat-free and have no-msg. I have eaten Pacific and Imagine and a generic HFS brand with no problem. Swanson also makes chicken broth that's 100% fat-free & no-msg, and it is safe, too. Just be sure you're checking the labels first and you should be good.

If you have a HFS nearby, you might even find that their chicken broth is cheaper than Swanson's at the regular store. I usually get it when it's on sale for $2/quart and stock up on that and vegetable broth.
